Instead of your soul ascending into peace, the gods from the aether realm brought you to Runecraft to mine rune crystals for them in the dark worlds, which they use to maintain the life of the God tree. You were given a listening stone, which you wear on your neck. It allows you to communicate with other players in an 1000 block radius. Runecraft is a universe with two connecting parallel worlds. The Light world and the dark world. The dark world portals from the lightworld connect to the dark world. The gods realign the magic in the dark world portals to a new dark world every month (week in future), leaving the old dark worlds never to be seen again.
